I have a feeling that the choice of Baguio as Manny Pacquiao’s training campsite for his upcoming non-title fight with Oscar Larios may backfire on Team Pacman’s chances. Here are some observations.

One, Baguio is a city, a buzzing city at that. It implies that it’s highly populated and considering the huge fan base of Pacquiao, his training may be hampered by unruly admirers, naughty kibitzers, local paparazzis, international, national and local media to name a few. What Manny needs is total undisturbed focus. Larios is not a patsy, remember he’s a former champ.

By now, Rustom Padilla’s name and person are occupying a space in every televiewer’s talk. His confession in Pinoy Big Brother of his being a gay has created a new wave of interest into the homosexuality issue. A number of groups have expressed their sympathy and support to him especially the gay community. The call of these groups is “Instead of condemning the man, we should rather understand the man.”

I believe, however, that Rustom needs more than sympathy and understanding much like other homosexuals. He needs help. . . several kinds of help.
