Pacquiao Should Take Barrera Call
Okay, news that WBC Superfeatherweight champ Marco Antonio Barrera wants to fight Manny Pacquiao is now all around. What should Team Pacquiao’s response be? I believe Pacman should take the the call for a number of obvious reasons.
One, Barrera has the belt. At this point, Manny’s stock has magnified to great proportions that the only thing he lacks is a legit title. With Barrera’s challenge, I think the time is ripe for Manny to make his name bigger in the boxing world.
Two, Barrera is vulnerably beatable. From the way it looks, Manny has less difficulty to dispose of Barrera than Morales. Needless to say, Barrera’s declining power might just be taken advantage of by another fighter. If that happens, the Barrera-Pacquiao rematch might not be as juicy as it is today. This leads me to my next point.
Three, a Barrera-Pacquiao II at this point is the match of the year in terms of hype, entertainment and, of course, money. I can’t think of any other match-up that is as salivating and palatable than this one. Both fighters are coming from victorious quests and this will make their next meeting gigantically big (forgive me for the redundancy) if they will indeed fight each other now.
Would it be so much a loss if Team Pacman sets aside the Larios fight and face MAB instead?
Give your comment, pals?

I agree they must fight, even if Pacquiao doesn’t have to prove anything to Barerra, if for no other reason than that belt. Manny needs it to cement his legitimacy as atop five pound-for-pounder

I totally agree that Manny should fight Barrera instead of Larrios.. He must save his energy and body for a worthy fight.

well, i think let manny fights first larios or any opponents who wish to fight him here in manila, then next will be barrera & thereafter will be morales then retire. let his name be marked as a mexican terminator & become a legend in boxing history

I agree with Pacquiao fighting Larios first then taking the fight against Morales if he really wants it (which I doubt). All we’ve heard is Arum and nothing at all from Morales. Even his father wants him to retire. That said, negotiations with MAB and Morales camp should happen simultaneously and see who really wants to fight Pacquiao. The upside is all on Manny’s side. All his rivals have aged and Manny’s just peaking so it really doesn’t matter who he fights. As for the belts, eventually they will fall whoever has them. He will be ranked pretty much #1 in all the alphabets so it really doesn’t matter at this time.
