Gomez and promoter Sampson Lewkowicz arrived in the country Wednesday morning from Las Vegas to do a separate business deal with their Filipino counterparts Tony Aldeguer and Sammy Gello-ani.

The piece of news above came from Manila Bulletin, March 18, 2006 issue.  Eric Gomez is the Vice President of Golden Boy Promotions, the promoter of Marco Antonion Barrera.

Any sane boxing fan, not to mention the boxing pundits whose sanity on the world of boxing cannot be fooled by sidewalk publicity, knows that Gomez’s trip to the Philippines is primarily for the Pacquiao-Barrera II.

You would not travel halfway through the globe if you’re just going to make a sort of “historic handshake.”  I believe the more “historic handshake” is not the one published
in the papers and on the Net.  Gomez wants the Pacman Handshake.  He represents Barrera and he’s here to move heaven and earth for Pacquiao and Barrera to mix it
up this year.  His mention of November 4 strikes a nostalgia of a past November month that was heaven for Pacquiao and hell for Barrera.
The visit of Gomez here is just another confirmation of the undeniable fact that the belt holder is not the true champion.  Someday, the true champion and the belt will be together.
