Pacquiao is No. 1 Pound-for-Pound in Boxrec
Visit the boxrec site and you’ll be happy if you are a Manny Pacquiao fanatic. He tops the pound-for-pound list of the boxing site.
Nowhere to be found in the site’s top ten p4p is his latest victim, the legendary Erik “El Terrible” Morales. I wonder why he’s out of the list. He is I think still such a quality boxer notwithstanding his losses to Zahir Raheem and the PACMAN. Those losses were no doubt not easy defeats especially that one from the PACMAN. If at all, he should still be in the top ten or probably close to the list.

Notable and surprising additions to the site’s p4p list are three featherweights: Chris John at no. 7, Juan Manuel Marquez at no. 8 and the current WBC superfeatherweight king Marco Antonio Barrera at no. 9. Intriguingly, why is Barrera ranked lower than Marquez and John? Some observers say that John’s victory over Marquez was a “robbery”. Whatever the criteria used by the assessors of boxrec are, the fact remains that Marco Antonio Barrera is the one with the belt.
What would happen to this list when Barrera would finally face Pacquiao? What would be the effect of a Pacquiao victory over Barrera? What if Barrera wins?
But first things first. Pacquiao has to dispose of Mexican challenger Oscar Larios on July 2, 2006 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City Philippines. Barrera, on the other hand, must defeat Rocky Juarez in May if he wants to make it big time when he faces the PACMAN. Then Pacquiao has to give in to contract conditions that say Pacquiao-Morales III.
