Pacquiao’s Pressures, Roach’s Antidote

Pressures, pressures, pressures.  These are what surround Manny Pacquiao at the moment as he prepares for the press conference with Mexican opponent Oscar Larios.

Things look very different for both fighters.  While Larios is bothered by only one thing — fighting the PACMAN — Pacquiao is hounded by several things.  Personal matters, off-boxing commitments, showbiz buzzes and profit-oriented people are all around Manny.  These pressures pose some sort of jeopardy to his training which has not even begun.

Freedie Roach, in an interview by Boxingtalk.com, admitted that there “are people pressuring Manny to stay over there”.  Roach is probably referring to persons who have a stake on Manny as a money-making celebrity.  But Roach was firm in his words to let Manny set his mind to the right things.

“The thing is there are too many distractions where he is right now, but once we get to the Philippines we are going up into the mountains.  When we get up there, we are just not going to let anyone in, it’s that simple.  It’s going to be a closed camp, and it will be a closed camp at The Wild Card as well,”  Roach said.

Manny is being pressured to do all his training in the Philippines but Roach has made sure he will train in his Wild Card Gym.  Manny should better heed Freddie’s words if he wants to be on track to bigger greatness.
